Welcome to Jefferson Middle School!
Hello JMS Families!
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!
I'm Mrs. Tan, and I'm thrilled to be your child’s 6th-grade Math, Science, and ALD teacher.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Los Angeles. I later completed my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction at Grand Canyon University.
My husband and I have two children—our daughter is currently in her second year at Cal State Fullerton, and our son attends GAB. My husband is also an educator; he has been teaching AP Calculus and AP Physics in LAUSD for more than 25 years. Last summer, we welcomed two new additions to our family: Kai and Yuki, our playful and affectionate Samoyed dogs.
I have more than 14 years of teaching experience, working with students from kindergarten through 8th grade. I began my teaching career in the Alhambra Unified School District and joined the San Gabriel Unified School District in 2016. After 3 years at McKinley Elementary, I transitioned to teaching 6th grade here at Jefferson.
This year, your child will engage in a rigorous curriculum and be held to high expectations—but I firmly believe that with your support and involvement, they will thrive.
I look forward to partnering with you for a successful and enriching school year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Tan
