Principal's Message

August 2018

JMS Families,

Welcome JMS families and students to the 2018-2019 school year.  I am excited for the upcoming school year.  I am excited for the learning to take place, relationships to be developed, and the fun to happen.   I hope everyone had an engaging, eventful, and exciting summer break, and that you are all now ready to start the next chapter of your education.  We have a lot planned for the year, and you participation and support is crucial.

This school year Jefferson will begin its new Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS).  We will be focusing on supporting the positive and work together with students, staff, and families to continue to make Jefferson a safe and inviting place where students and staff can work any issue out for a healthy school environment.  Look for more information throughout the school year as this program takes off.

Students will continue to be encouraged to join and start clubs here at Jefferson.  It is my vision and goal that the students take an active role in determining what happens here at school.  Our programs allow for leadership development and allow students to explore the world around them.  It is truly amazing to watch students take ownership of the school.

We will be hosting a robust after school program.  Students will have more options open to them after school to ensure success and safety.  We will be continue to offer tutoring in the tech room after school until 4:30.  The computer lab will also be open until 4:30. New this year will be the media center opening after school, and the Teen Zone.  Both will also be open until 4:30.  For our English learners, we will be offering an after school language development program.

I am excited to see you all on August 20th.  I know that we are going to have an amazing school year together.  Student be prepared to work hard, have fun, and be nice.  If we do these things, our year will be amazing.
