Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  

 

I'm Mrs. Tan.  I'm thrilled to be your child's 6th-grade Language Arts, Social Studies, and AVID Advisory teacher.

 

I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and a Multiple Subject Credential.  My husband and I have two children. Our daughter is in high school and our son is in middle school. Both are attending schools in San Gabriel Unified School District.  My husband is also a teacher.  He teaches  AP Calculus and AP Physics at LAUSD.

 

I have more than 13 years of teaching experience with students from K-8.  I started at Alhambra Unified School District during my early teaching years and joined San Gabriel Unified School District in 2016.  I've taught at McKinley Elementary School for a few years and made the transition to teach 6th grade here at Jefferson. 

 

With the rigorous curriculum and my high expectations, your child will get challenged this year.  However, your support and involvement with your child's education will make a huge difference.
